Ton Duc Thang University: A 10-year illuminating journey

In the development history of 22 years of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), 2007 was the turning point with the most important changes affecting the entire following years of the university when issuing the 30-year Plan (2007-2037) in which TDTU will have developed into an elite research university in the world's top 500 universities. After two implementation periods (2008-2018), the university is proud of its achievements in all areas. It was reported at the preliminary summary of the two periods of implementation of the 5-year plans on May 17, 2019 that Prof. Le Vinh Danh, the President presented clearly and coherently about each number and event that the university's lecturers & staff had implemented.

A new achievement in the world's leading Physical Science journal

A new research result: “Allele fixation probability in a Moran model with fluctuating fitness landscapes” belonging to the Physics Scientists of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) was published in the world famous journal “Physical Review E”, one of research journals of the American Physical Society. Physical Review E is a journal of the ISI Index with Impact Factor (IF) of 2,366 [according to Journal Citation Reports; Clarivate, United States]; and H-index is 249 [according to SJR; Spain]. In TDTU's ranking system of international scientific publications, Physical Review E is classified as Statistics and Probability of SJR. This publication helps to examine the effect of the concentration of sensitive substances and pH effects of the environment. Theoretical measurements used both HOMO-LUMO synthetic and energy dimer geometry. The study found out the pH scale and the optimal concentration of sensitive substances in the reaction medium; and the high hydrogen yield from water extraction was 138.3 μmol (348 TONs) with the dye WPTZ2TS.

TDTU: connecting with international friends and Vietnamese returning to their homeland

Increasing international cooperation is one of the strong activities that Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) has been implementing. So far, the University has received over 3,000 international students from more than 30 countries to study long-term for undergraduate and graduate level, short-term, and cultural exchange at the University. During the Cultural exchange program from 11th to 17th of May, 2019, TDTU has welcomed the delegation of lecturers and students from Georgia State University (GSU), USA, to study and exchange. Tinh Trinh, a Vietnamese-origin GSU student expressed: "This trip to TDTU is very meaningful to me and Angela (another Vietnamese-origin GSU student in the delegation), because we are able to find the voice and Vietnam homeland. Here, I have the opportunity to speak Vietnamese with my Vietnamese friends. I am very proud to be able to speak Vietnamese with everyone.”

Signing ceremony of cooperation agreement with enterprise in the field of seafood and beverage

On the morning of May 21, 2019, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) organized a cooperation signing with enterprises in the field of manufacturing and trading in seafood and soft drinks, including: New Wind Seafood Company Limited; Saigon Aquatic Products Trading Joint Stock Company (APT), Tan Quang Minh Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited (Bidrico). In the agreement, the parties will cooperate in implementing internship and fieldtrips for TDTU students to support students who overcome difficulties to study well. These enterprises will prioritize recruiting TDTU graduates of the Faculties such as Applied Sciences and Electrical and Electronics Engineering; especially students who have good behavior, ability to research and study hard to effectively access the production line..

The opening of the first Ton Duc Thang University Open Traditional Martial Arts Tournament in 2019

On May 25, 2019, the first Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) Open traditional martial arts tournament in 2019 was officially opened at TDTU multi-purpose gymnasium. Martial arts are considered one of TDTU’s main strengths in the field of sports. On May 7, 2019, TDTU students brought four gold medals to Vietnam Taekwondo Team at the Southeast Asian Taekwondo Championship in the Philippines. In 2018, the TDTU Traditional Martial Arts Team participated in the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports Open martial arts tournament and won a gold medal, 6 silver medals and 9 bronze medals. TDTU is one of very few Vietnamese universities that set up a separate system of competitions for traditional martial arts.
